WHAT IS YOUR STYLE OF DJ/MC-ING?
Confident, energetic and professional. Many DJs believe it is their job to put on a cheesy show for the guests. Sadly, this takes attention away from the bride, groom, or whomever is being celebrated. Our DJs present themselves in a professional manner when doing announcements, introductions, and invitations to the dance floor. Songs are selected based on your preferences and what our professionals have strategically chosen to get your guests up and grooving.
DO YOU OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL SERVICES (CEREMONY MUSIC, LIGHTING, ETC.)?
Yes! Mod Wave offers a large selection of Cocktail music that can be played through our sound system during the ceremony and as guests are arriving. If you are interested in live musicians - we, ourselves, offer live music options & are greatly connected to other professional artists specializing in all styles of music and instruments that we would be happy to refer you to. We do provide dance floor-DJ lighting that is sure to get the crowd dancing. We do not provide in-house lighting as we feel quality complex lighting should be done by professionals in that industry. Many reception/banquet halls will provide fair lighting options or direct you to lighting design specialists.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHAT MUSIC TO PLAY?
Every event is unique. All of the music played on the night of your event is based on a questionnaire form filled out by you in our client hub, specifying your genre preferences, a do-not-play-list, whether or not you wish to allow guests to make requests, and more. Our DJs specialize in crowd reading and will keep an eye out for songs guests aren’t feeling and the ones that seem to get them on their feet!
DO YOU CHARGE EXTRA FOR SONGS YOU DON'T HAVE?
Never. We have a wide bank of songs and most likely already have what you’re asking for! If we don’t, we’ll add it to our bank at no cost to you.
WHAT MAKES SPENDING THE MONEY ON A PROFESSIONAL DJ VS. PLAYING IPOD-DJ WORTH IT?
Your wedding day only happens once. A DJ is much more than someone who flips through a few different tunes. A professional DJ will spend multiple hours before your event utilizing organizational skills that are required to create a smooth ceremony and reception. A professional DJ will not only have proper equipment and lighting, but will have backup equipment prepared so that in the unlikely event that something fails, you are not left with no music at your wedding. Hiring a professional DJ will put your mind at ease, allowing you to enjoy your special day knowing a professional has the flow of the evening under control.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVE?
We are located in Cedar Rapids, IA and are happy to kick it anywhere. Our standard rates include a travel radius of 60 miles. This means we cover Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Coralville and surrounding areas at no additional travel fee. Ask for additional travel rates & fees.
DO YOU OFFER A WRITTEN CONTRACT?
Yes. We have a detailed written contract that serves to protect both you and Mod Wave, LLC.
CAN WE MEET WITH YOU IN PERSON BEFORE SIGNING A CONTRACT?
Absolutely! If possible, we highly recommend an initial meeting first. Due to location restrictions, we understand not everyone can meet in person prior to a contract signing.
HOW DO I RESERVE MY WEDDING DATE?
A $200 deposit (refundable for up to 7 days) and a signed contract is all that is required to reserve your special date. This reserves the entire day for you - allowing for any start/finish time changes you may come across during the planning process.
HOW DO YOU DRESS FOR AN EVENT?
Our standard event attire is professional, with mainly dark tones. This is YOUR day and we will do our best to blend into the background of any dance floor photos that may be taken. That being said, we never want to dress more formal than the wedding party. If a specific style would be more appropriate for your event, simply let us know your preference.
WHEN DO YOU ARRIVE TO SET UP FOR AN EVENT?
We require a minimum of 1 - 1.5 hours in advance to set up. This way, we can be ready to roll by the time your guests begin arriving.
CAN WE GO TO A WEDDING WHERE YOUR DJs ARE PERFORMING?
The privacy of our clients is very important. We do not allow potential clients to drop-in to private events. The only events you can visit us at are the occasional public events. If there is one coming up, we would be happy to share that information with you upon request. Samples of our work can be found throughout our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
DOES THE DJ BRING THE EQUIPMENT OR DO WE/THE RECEPTION SITE NEED TO PROVIDE IT?
We will provide all of the necessary equipment to perform our services, unless stated otherwise.
MY VENUE IS REQUESTING THE DJ GIVE PROOF OF INSURANCE; ARE YOU INSURED?
You bet. And we'd be happy to provide you or your venue a copy.
